I have a lot of things to unpack, repack, clean put away. Suitcases from this trip. Boxes that have been stored for 2 years. There are significant portions of my room and basement that have been taken over by clutter. I need to do something about this....
Out of all of the things that I could have done, the first thing that caught my attention was my jewlery stand. I went to unpack the jewlery from my trip, and place some new some not so new pieces of jewlery into my stand. But when I opened it, I had forgotten the mess that I had left it in. There wasn't really any order to it.
So I started organizing. All the rings one place, earrings another, bracelets in yet another drawer. But then I was stuck. I have TONS of broken pieces of jewlery. Necklaces to be restrung, broken rings, earings that I had held onto in hopes of finding the long lost match... I've never been able to get rid of them, and today I felt like it was time.
It was a symbolic letting go of the things that I have been holding onto to make room for the new "jewels" that God wants to place in my life. I have been holding onto this stuff for far too long. It's time to get rid of the jewlery attatched to times of the past. Yes some places will remain empty, but it's time to make space, and await the new :)
